I've had a busy spring and summer preparing for two solo shows, one in Montreal and one in Calgary. The show at Galerie d'Avignon is over now but you can see photos of the work in my photo album on the right. I'm flying off to Calgary tomorrow for the opening of my show at artfirm which will run from October 20 to November 18. The photos of the pieces are in the artfirm photo album on the right.
“Text” has found a new home. Last month, with the help of Bill Ross, I delivered the 29”x29”x20” bronze to the new owners, Mr & Mrs Graham of Toronto.
PEEL
Peel is the latest incarnation to grow out of the Casse-tete Series. One aspect of the piece that I like very much is how it vibrates in response to touch and when rung will continue to tremble for up to 3 minutes.
Toronto International Art Fair
Last month I attended the Toronto International Art Fair. I took some of my work and a sculpture by Sue Adams to the fair for the Galerie d’Avignon’s booth. It’s always a treat to see so much art under one roof though I was disappointed they didn’t feature large sculpture in the central area as in previous years. While in Toronto I met Donna Chepz and Leslynn Heerema of Artfirm a new Calgary gallery and I am now represented by them. I’ve also changed Toronto galleries and I am currently with the Ingram Gallery on Avenue Road.
I've added a new photo album featuring sculptures from a show I had at Galerie d'Avignon in Montreal in 2002. Many of these sculptures are still available.

Naked in the House
For the month of January I will be participating in a group show of photography called ‘Naked in the House’. Each photographer used one camera, one lens and one roll of film and had half an hour to shoot a nude model in a heritage home in Carleton Place. We drew lots for which hour of the day we would shoot. This exercise was based on the TVO program of the same name and concept. The first three shots in the photo album "Photography" are in the Naked in the House show. The remaining photos are earlier examples of my work.
NEW TABULA RASA
Here is a new sculpture in the Tabula Rasa Series. It features a polished interior head emerging from a red black shell. It's bronze and about 16 inches high. I also have some maquettes like it in the Tabula Rasa photo album.

In the Movies
When I heard that my sculpture "Whispers" had been rented for the movie, Gothika, being shot in Montreal and starring Halle Berry and Robert Downey Jr. I was intrigued. I finally saw it on TV. Unfortunately the sculpture is in the office of a character who gets bumped off in the first 10 minutes of the movie and my piece is on screen for about 3 nanoseconds.
Garden Sculpture
I've added a new photo album called Columns in which are images of sketches for proposed garden sculptures that use a 7.5 foot granite column as the base. In the photo album 'in the garden' I've included shots of my outdoor pieces taken at different times of the year.
